What a power of attorney is generally for
A power of attorney is a document used to give another person authority to act on someone’s behalf. Financial powers of attorney may concern money, accounts or other affairs, depending on the document. The powers granted, when they begin and when they end depend on the document and applicable law. An attorney can advise on which form and provisions fit your situation.
How Ann can help
Ann provides mobile notarization for a prepared power of attorney. She can meet the signer at a home, office or accessible facility in Conyers. Her role concerns the notarization, including identity and willingness to sign; it does not include drafting the document, selecting the agent or advising on the authority being granted.
Prepare before scheduling
Have the full document available, identify everyone who needs to attend and ask the document preparer about witness requirements. Witness eligibility and signing arrangements should be discussed before the visit. Please wait for the notary’s signing instructions. The person granting authority must participate in the appointment; a relative cannot simply arrange a signature on their behalf.
When a facility visit is needed
Tell Ann if the signer is in a hospital or nursing facility, and confirm access with staff. A notary may be unable to proceed if identity, awareness or voluntary participation is in question. A hospital visit adds a $20 hospital / nursing home convenience fee to the regular travel fee and $2 per notarial act.
Standard travel & convenience: $45 within 10 driving miles of Conyers City Hall, plus $2 per notarial act. Hospital and nursing home visits add $20. Farther travel is quoted individually. Fees and availability are confirmed before booking.
Need a witness?
Any document requiring witnesses can use this service. Ann can provide one or two witnesses for $35 each ($70 for two), in addition to travel, notarial and any hospital or nursing home convenience fees. Confirm the required number and eligibility of witnesses with the document preparer. Request a witness on the quote form so arrangements can be confirmed before your visit.
